Tips for Graphic Designers just starting out

Here's some useful tips that i wish i knew when i first started out in the graphic design industry.

1. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there.

Try new trends, new styles, things you don't even think you can design because this will push you outside your comfort zone. Don't stick to one design style at the start because you need to find out who you are as a designer and what you actually like designing.

2. Invest In Yourself

If you really want to give it a go then you need to invest in the right equipment. Save some money to be able to buy a good, the correct software and some online courses. Without the 3 things it;'s going to be hard to start. Don't just invest money, but invest in your time. Your time is so valuable so make sure you're using it wisely.

3. Create your own sparkle

Taking inspiration from other designers is great, but try not to copy, Copying really isn't going to get you anywhere, in fact it's going to stop you from finding out your own style as a designer. You're not going to stand out if you're constantly copying someone's style. You need to create your own sparkle and your own path for yourself instead of following someone else's.

4. Learn from those around you

This was the most important thing for me... learning on the job. I picked up so many skills from working in the industry, working under someone, learning off of someone else, it's such a valuable things. This is where you can make the mistakes you need to learn. I don't think i'd be able to do what i do now without the amount i learnt working for someone else before starting my own business.

5. Don't give up

Being in this industry can be so hard at times, especially when you see other designers thriving. But please don't give up. You;ve got to remember that you are YOU and no one can take that from you. Imagine giving up after a few months then years later thinking about where you would be now if you have just held on longer and didn't throw it all in?

Now go out there with these tips and smash it!
